Motorola Seeks Patent for Mic Tattooed to Throat; Could Light Up When Person Lies
November 11, 2013 - 3:40 PM
Motorola has applied for a patent for a tiny microphone that is tattooed to users' throats. (AP graphic)
(CNSNEWS.com) – First there were Google Glasses, which allow wearers to view a tiny computer hidden in a futuristic-style headset without having to pick up a smartphone.
Google-owned Motorola has also applied for a patent for a tiny wireless microphone tattooed to users’ throats that can be programmed to light up when they are lying.
Motorola Mobility, Inc. of Libertyville, Ill. filed the patent application for an “electronic skin tattoo capable of being applied to a throat region of a body. The electronic skin tattoo can include an embedded microphone, a transceiver for enabling wireless communication with the MCD (mobile communication device), and a power supply configured to receive signals from a personal area network associated with the MCD.”
The tattoo mics, which will come with a micro signal processor that screens out other noises, will be powered by either rechargeable batteries or a miniature solar panel, according to the application, which was filed in May of 2012 and published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) on Nov. 7th.
A controller “can be configured to execute programs or instructions to enable communicative coupling of the electronic tattoo to external electronic devices such as a smartphone, a gaming device, a tablet computer, [or] a wearable computer,” according to the patent application.
Additional nano-circuitry will make them capable of “analog-to-digital conversion” and “data compression” as well.
But that’s not the only potential application of the tattooed mic as imagined by its creators. The gizmo could also be programmed to light up whenever the user says a certain word or pattern of words:
“It is also contemplated that the display may be instructed by the processor to illuminate visually upon the electronic skin tattoo meeting a criteria, recognizing a voice pattern, or surpassing a frequency threshold. That is a certain word can be spoken that will enable the display to illuminate when the electronic skin tattoo senses the pattern or frequency corresponding to the spoken word or utterance.”
Or whenever the user is not telling the truth:
“Optionally, the electronic skin tattoo can further include a galvanic skin response detector to detect skin resistance of a user. It is contemplated that a user that may be nervous or engaging in speaking falsehoods may exhibit different galvanic skin response than a more confident, truth telling individual.”
Motorola spokeswoman Danielle McNally declined to answer any questions about potential abuse of the device or when throat mics might be commercially available. “We won’t be providing any comments on the filing. Thank you,” she said in a text message to CNSNews.com.

Drones could be a future vision, affect us moore than we belived
It's a weird sensation, being born in midair. Within seconds, users exploring Liam Young's conceptual art project "City of Drones" find themselves staring out the eyes of an unmanned robot, falling gently towards what appears to be something like the ground. "City of Drones" is as much statement as game, an artful exploration of a world filled only with robots and obstacles.
The project is soundtracked by musician John Cale, who brings a sparse touch to the world, evoking a mechanical wind on a desolate plain, like a Spaghetti Western filmed in an abandoned city. Voices chatter through static, air traffic controller technobabble speaking into a robotic void.
The world itself was constructed by Liam Young, a self-described speculative architect, and the London-based digital art studio FIELD. The world of City of Drones is peopled, as it were, only by buildings and flying objects. Many of these drones take on familiar shapes: flying wings, rotund cigar-like blimps, and the matchstick-with-wings body type common to military drones like the Predator. Others are abstracted further– shiny diamonds, matchstick mutants covered in wings at all angles, discarded origami drifting through space. The drones seem to fly in lanes, keeping neat lines along x, y, and z axes. It's a world that operates in rough imitation to something real, like a first rendering of a Coruscant cityscape background in the Star Wars prequels.
Illah Reza Nourbakhsh, a professor of robotics at Carnegie Mellon, uses the term "robot smog" to describe this kind of future. He writes:

Illah Reza Nourbakhsh, a professor of robotics at Carnegie Mellon, uses the term "robot smog" to describe this kind of future. He writes:
I recently heard the C.E.O. of a domestic drone company describe the vision that inspires her: she wants a drone to deliver bottles of water as she completes her morning runs. Imagine the scene as joggers scatter through the park with their drones humming overhead, jostling for position, sounding like a dozen leaf blowers. This melange of visual clutter and noise pollution, what I’ve dubbed “robot smog,” will transform the worst effects of digital devices into real-world annoyances that cannot be silenced or hidden in a coat pocket. Today, interactions with machines generally occur on our own terms—toasters, microwaves, and even smartphones do what we tell them—but soon, we could be looking up at a quadrotor drone hovering in the park, wondering whether to walk underneath it or cut into the grass to avoid its downdraft. Autonomous robots will displace our sense of control precisely because they are out of our control, but occupy the physical world and demand our attention.
In City of Drones, there is no such interaction, because there are no people. It's the smog without the people breathing it in, the pollution without the ecosystem it's disrupting. It's a fanciful world, and an empty one. If this is the future of drones, what is the future of people? One guess: they're all hiding out in drone-proof cities.[Citylab]

mWatt (mW) calculation and body
mWatt (mW) calculation and body
ok I have look at it for some hours
This is how to explain it
A body is about 50 - 100 Watt / day
some say 120 W, I use that example
And 1W = 1J
The question I solve realy was: how large mW on a 24h, a chip from 1998 is designed 250 mW activated state, and 18mW deactivated state. Designed to support very fast transmission of text, image, voice and video.
Calculation 250mW*24h= 6 W / day
120W/ 6W = 20 times of daily consumtion
